Joel Travera, an army vet received a $450,000 home but not for no good reason. Shortly before Joel's 21st birthday he was injured in a rocket attack on his humvee. The attack killed three of his comrades and left Joel himself blinded and without the use of his right leg and four fingers and severe burns on 60% of his body.

Simply Amazing we need more of this in the news

the hero

Joel Travera is a true American hero and his sacrifice is great. I however wish Joel's story and the story of other vets. were in the news. Not just the tragedy though, the news stories we see everyday seem to be extremely depressing and horrible. I think stories like this were hero's are recognized and helped where they need int needs to be in the light of the media.

  1. I agree with you Nick there are too many depressing stories in the news today. It is good to see the media show something that is good. I feel like if there were more stories such as this then the world might be better for everyone.

  2. I agree that there should be more stories like this on the news. I think that it would do more than just making the people hear good stories though. I believe that with telling good news it would help the moral of the country and give it more of a sense of pride that we seem to be missing these days. It'd also help see the good things instead of all of the bad things.

  3. I also agree with Nick. Veterans in today's world are not respected like they used to be. If this were the 1950's, I believe that veterans are treated a lot nicer and respected a lot more than they are today. Every time I see a veteran, I take a moment to thank them for their service for our country. Whether you think that way or not, we have what we have because of them.
